India's industrial production growth weakened more than expected in November, data from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation revealed on Friday.

Industrial output registered an annual increase of 2.4 percent after posting a double-digit revised expansion of 11.6 percent in October.

Economists had forecast production growth to ease to 4.0 percent in November from October's initially estimated 11.7 percent growth, which was the fastest in 16 months. Among major three sectors, mining output grew the most, up by 6.8 percent. This was followed by the 5.8 percent rise in electricity output and 1.2 percent increase in manufacturing.

During April to November, industrial production grew 7.7 percent from the same period last year, data showed.
