The total number of owner occupied housing commitments in Australia decreased at a faster-than-expected pace in June, after rising in the previous month, figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed Wednesday.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, total number of owner occupied dwelling commitments dropped 1.1 percent month-over-month in June, reversing a 1.0 percent increase in May.

That was just above the 1.0 percent fall economists had forecast.

The value of owner occupied housing commitments, excluding alternations and additions, declined 1.6 percent.

Similarly, the total value of investment housing commitments slid 2.7 percent in June.
