2025.11.1113:41:43UTC+00US Private Job Growth Falters in Late October

Private sector employers in the United States reduced their workforce by an average of 11,250 jobs per week over the four weeks concluding on October 25, 2025, highlighting a persistent slowdown in the labor market during the latter part of the month. This data is part of the ADP National Employment Report, developed by ADP Research Institute in partnership with the Stanford Digital Economy Lab. This recent report builds on last week's discovery, which noted a modest rebound in private-sector employment for October, with a gain of 42,000 jobs following two months of job reductions. However, the recovery remains inconsistent. The majority of job increases were seen in the education and healthcare sectors, as well as in trade, transportation, and utilities. Meanwhile, significant job losses continued for the third consecutive month in the professional and business services, information, and leisure and hospitality sectors.
