2025.10.3107:53:13UTC+00Norway Jobseekers Highest Since 2022

In October 2025, the seasonally adjusted number of individuals registered as unemployed in Norway increased to 64.7 thousand, following a slight upward revision from the 64.5 thousand recorded in the previous month. This figure represents the highest unemployment rate since January 2022, equating to 2.2% of the labor force. The rise in unemployment affected most occupational sectors, with the tourism and transportation industry experiencing the highest rates at 3% of the workforce, while academic professions saw the lowest at 0.8%. Among regions, Oslo and Østfold reported the highest unemployment rates, each at 2.8%, whereas Troms recorded the lowest at 1.2%. Despite this, labor demand remained robust, with October seeing 31,200 job vacancies—approximately 1,900 per working day—although this is a 7% decrease compared to the previous year. The primary sectors in need of labor included health, nursing & care, retail & sales, and service occupations. Notably, on a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the number of fully unemployed individuals decreased to 61.3 thousand in October from 62 thousand in September.
