Japan automobile production logged a double-digit growth in September after thirteen months of downturn, a report published by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers' Association revealed Wednesday.

Manufacturers produced 873,623 units of vehicles in September, up 13 percent from a year ago. Domestic sales surged 17 percent and exports were up 10.2 percent.

Nonetheless, production declined during the first half of the fiscal year starting April 2013 as output was down in five months of the year. Production slipped 3.4 percent to 4.74 million units.

In September, production of motorcycle advanced 10.2 percent annually. An increase of 10.7 percent in domestic sales was partially offset by a 21.4 percent fall in exports.

Motorcycle production for the first half of fiscal year 2013 was down 6.1 percent annually, it said.
