Japanese stocks continues its advances with a strong open Tuesday, as construction-related shares marched greater, along with some exporters. The Nikkei Stock Average bolstered 0.8% to 14,321.22, with the Topix also shot 0.8% up. Among construction shares, which had risen Monday after Tokyo won the right to host the 2020 Olympics, Kajima Corp. higher by another 4.3%, Asahi Glass Co. recorded a 1.8% increase, and Mitsubishi Estate Co. rallied 0.9%. Transport shares were also a strong spot, with shipper Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. climbing 4.2%, and Nippon Yusen K.K. jumped 2.6%, while Japan Airlines Co. skyrocketed 1.7% and All Nippon Airways Co. developed 1.4%, with a Nikkei report saying the government may add slots to accommodate Olympic traffic. Komatsu Ltd. marched 4.4% higher after a separate Nikkei report said its operating profit from its parts division would soar as much as 40% to a record high this fiscal year. Some techs also improved after strong advances on Wall Street overnight, with Sony Corp. boosted 2.4%, Renesas Electronics Corp. gained 3.3%, and Hitachi Ltd. rose 1.5%. Suntory Beverage & Food Ltd. increased by 1% after confirmation it planned to purchase GlaxoSmithKline PLC's Lucozade and Ribena drinks brands for about $2.11 billion. On the downside, Tokyo Electric Power Co. plunged 1% down amid reports of more radiation leaking from its shuttered Fukushima nuclear-power plant.
