Latvia’s industrial production increased by 0.3% year-on-year in August 2026, recovering from a 0.2% decline in July. Output growth strengthened notably in mining and quarrying (36.1% vs 12.4%), while manufacturing expanded at a slower pace (7.6% vs 8.2%). Within manufacturing, growth moderated for food products (8.9% vs 11.7%), fabricated metal products (12.3% vs 33.9%), computer and electronic products (20.4% vs 23.4%), and machinery and equipment (17.5% vs 36.9%). At the same time, output declined for beverages (-18.4% vs -5.2%) and motor vehicles (-10.2% vs 11.8%).

By contrast, production accelerated in the repair and installation of machinery (20.2% vs 8.2%) and in chemicals (11.5% vs 8.1%). Meanwhile, activity in electricity and gas supply contracted more sharply (-44.6% vs -35.6%).

On a monthly basis, industrial production rose 0.3% in August, after a 0.1% increase in July. Over the first eight months of the year, overall industrial output was up 4.7% compared with the same period a year earlier.
