The US dollar was somewhat changed versus major peers Monday as investors kept on going through economic reports and statements from central bank officials to comprehend more on when the Federal Reserve could start increasing interest rates.

The dollar edged down to ¥102.13, previously ¥102.22. Japan's markets were shut Monday.

The US economy in April made the most jobs in more than two years, rendering more evidence of a recuperation in the labor market, based on Friday’s jobs report. The Fed maintained it could retain interest rates low for a considerable time following the conclusion of its bond-buying program.

The ICE dollar index, which gauges the greenback versus a basket of six currencies, was slightly changed at 79.505 from 79.510 late Friday. The WSJ Dollar, another measure of dollar strength, settled at 72.81 against 72.84.

Violence in Ukraine prevailed last weekend and heavy fighting broke out Monday in Slovyansk, which is done by pro-Russian separatists.

On Monday, the dollar climbed 1.1% versus the Brazilian real.

Among other currencies, the euro set at $1.3876, previously $1.3872. Eurozone producer prices dropped 0.2% in March from February.

The British pound was unchanged at $1.6870 against $1.6871 late Friday. London markets were shut Monday.
