Indonesia’s annual loan growth accelerated to 9.96% year-on-year in January 2026, up from 9.69% in the previous month. This was the fastest expansion since February 2025, largely driven by a strong increase in investment credit, which jumped 22.38% from a year earlier. Growth was also recorded in working capital loans (up 4.13%) and consumer credit (up 6.58%).

The expansion in lending was supported by stronger economic activity, the easing of monetary and macroprudential policies, and progress in government priority programs. Looking ahead, Bank Indonesia expects credit growth to remain solid, underpinned by both demand and supply factors, and projects overall credit growth in the range of 8% to 12% in 2026.

Even so, Bank Indonesia emphasized its commitment to strengthening coordination with the government and the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) to improve interest rate transmission and further bolster bank lending.
