Oman’s annual inflation rate eased to 1.4% in January 2026 from 1.6% in December, reaching its lowest level since September 2025. The slowdown was mainly driven by more moderate price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.9% vs 1.1% in December) and for clothing and footwear (0.1% vs 0.2%).

Transport prices declined (-0.3% vs 2.8%), while prices were unchanged for housing and utilities (0.0%), communication (0.0%), and education (2.2%).

In contrast, several categories saw faster price growth: furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (2.6% vs 2.4%), miscellaneous goods and services (13.2% vs 10.0%), restaurants and hotels (5.9% vs 2.6%), and health (1.7% vs 0.1%). Prices for recreation and culture rebounded, rising 1.1% after a 0.1% decline.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.3% in January, recovering from a 0.1% decrease in December 2025.
