At the close in the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones fell 0.54%, the S&P 500 index fell 0.75%, the NASDAQ Composite index fell 0.72%.

Salesforce.com Inc was the top performer among the components of the Dow Jones index today, up 15.83 points or 9.88% to close at 176.07. Chevron Corp rose 1.66 points or 0.95% to close at 176.32. Caterpillar Inc rose 1.72 points or 0.80% to close at 217.57.

The biggest losers were Walmart Inc, which shed 3.18 points or 2.47% to end the session at 125.45. 3M Company was up 1.92% or 2.87 points to close at 146.42, while American Express Company was down 1.81% or 3.06 points to close at 165. 76.

Among the gainers among the components of the S&P 500 in today's trading were shares of Hess Corporation, which rose 3.56% to close the session at 127.45.

The biggest losers were Albemarle Corp, which shed 7.80% to close at 240.12. Shares of Moody's Corporation shed 6.36% to end the session at 282.38. Quotes of The Mosaic Company decreased in price by 6.10% to 58.69.

The leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were Missfresh Ltd ADR, which rose 51.05% to 0.25, Spark Networks SE ADR, which gained 38.39% to close at 2.92. as well as Energy Focus, which rose 37.42% to close the session at 1.22.

The biggest losers were CASI Pharmaceuticals Inc, which shed 88.20% to close at 0.41. Shares of Janone Inc lost 32.98% and ended the session at 2.50. Quotes of Dogness International Corp Class A fell in price by 32.75% to 2.69.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that fell in price (1872) exceeded the number of those that closed in positive territory (1296), while quotes of 134 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2,417 companies fell in price, 1,383 rose, and 197 remained at the level of the previous close.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, fell 1.91% to 25.69.

Gold futures for August delivery added 0.08%, or 1.55, to $1.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude for July delivery rose 0.15%, or 0.17, to $114.84 a barrel. Brent crude for August delivery rose 0.19%, or 0.22, to $115.82 a barrel.

Meanwhile, in the Forex market, EUR/USD fell 0.77% to 1.07, while USD/JPY edged up 1.15% to hit 130.16.

Futures on the USD index rose 0.80% to 102.58.
